The Journey in Quanzhou
I arrived again in the city where I once lived. This time, although I was just a passer-by, when I walked through those familiar streets and took the bus route that left a deep impression in my mind, the spring breeze was just right, warm and silky, and it had never changed.
I returned to Quanzhou, but I only stayed in the city for half a day. There is no subway in Quanzhou, and people mainly rely on buses or cars to travel. I remember when I first arrived in Quanzhou, I thought Quanzhou looked so shabby. In many places, you can see the traces of the vicissitudes of time before the high-rise buildings rose from the ground.
Just walking around without any particular plan to go.
If you ask me what is fun in Quanzhou, here are what comes to mind:
- Culture Quanzhou is the starting point of the Maritime Silk Road and an ancient seaport. You can visit Quanzhou Museum and Fujian-Taiwan Museum for free. If you are interested in music, you can enjoy the traditional music of the southern Fujian region, “Nanyin“ in Quanzhou.
- Food The taste of the coastal cities in southern Fujian: noodle soup, ginger duck, four-fruit soup, rice dumplings, oyster omelette, etc.
- Beach Qingshan Bay, Hongta Bay, etc. You can refer to https://qz.bendibao.com/tour/2017331/5603.shtm. It is recommended to go in summer
The feeling Quanzhou gives me is: a small (actually not small) city with a pleasant climate and a leisurely pace.
West Street
With the bell tower as the midpoint, East Street and West Street are on the east and west sides. This is the old city, most of which are Minnan style buildings, which can be seen in Quanzhou, Xiamen and Zhangzhou. In this old city, there are many temples and parks such as the Confucian Temple, Guandi Temple and Kaiyuan Temple. Minnan people respect gods and Buddhas very much. Many elders burn incense and pray for blessings on the first and fifteenth day of the lunar month, hoping that gods and Buddhas will bless them with good health.
I saw some popular photos on Xiaohongshu that were very atmospheric, with the sunset, street lights, and crowds all in perfect condition. I have to say that weather is really important for scenery. Sunshine, blue sky, and white clouds are always a pleasant combination, and sunny days are the best for photos.
Most of the shops on West Street sell snacks and drinks, and some shops specialize in hairpins and makeup for tourists (both men and women can do it). If you want to try something new, you can try it.
Kaiyuan Temple
The cherry blossom season in Quanzhou has passed, but the azaleas are in full bloom.
The other side door of Kaiyuan Temple is the road.
Wulin Traditional Village
Located in Jinjiang City, Quanzhou City, it is a scenic spot that has been renovated in recent years. Transportation mainly relies on self-driving or taxi. The overall architectural style is still Minnan/Nanyang style. No tickets are required to enter the scenic spot. At present, there are not many businesses settled in the scenic spot. It is a good place for leisure and relaxation.
I met several groups of elementary school students in the park. I guess they were organized by the school for a spring outing.
I love the reflection of this tree.
There are many teahouses in the scenic area.
While visiting the scenic area, I sat for a while at the “Banyan Tree Cafe”. The entire cafe is under a big banyan tree. There are not many tourists now, so it is very quiet. It is great to sit down and read a book or listen to music. The price is about the same as Starbucks.
Luojia Temple & Golden Coast
Luojia Temple is not big. Actually, I was attracted by the beautiful photos on Xiaohongshu. Unfortunately, the weather was not good, and my photos were about to turn black and white. I sat on the beach for a long time, just watching the waves hitting the rocks again and again, which was also a very pleasant thing.
Next to Luojia Temple is a large beach, in the middle of which there is a large stone statue of Guanyin of the South China Sea.
Although it is far from the city, the transportation is quite convenient. It is easy to get a taxi and the bus can also reach it. There are KFC and chain milk tea shops on the shore.
Wudianshi
A quiet place in a busy city. Next to Jinjiang Wanda, the business district is complete and it is very convenient for eating, drinking and shopping. There are Starbucks, KFC and Haidilao in the park.
